Stranger with a gift

One of the more disturbing features of this neighborhood is the abundance of stray animals.  Stay dogs roaming the streets rummaging through the trash, and countless stray kitties.  We have a few "regulars" that like to sun themselves on our back porch, but our most frequent visitor by far is this dark fellow:

He actually seems very sweet and friendly (yet cautious) compared to some of his very feral brothers.  Recently we discovered this lovely gift bestowed upon our doorstep:
 

It is hard to say which of our visitors gifted this beautiful female cardinal, but we do have our suspicions...
