Bad Graffiti: Part I

pink version!

I actually kind of like this little armadillo door...

This one is not so bad if you can look past the dirty mattresses:

I find this one pretty amusing:

Winding Roads

There is such a huge difference between NY driving and WV driving.  In NY the roads tend to be flat and more of a "straight shot", while WV has some of the tightest hairpin turns I've come across.  Typically I've found there is rarely a shoulder, guardrail, or sign warning the driver of the upcoming turn.  This alone tells me they must not get very much ice in the winter months here!
I shot this video the other day on my drive up to the Huntington Museum, which sits atop one of the craziest hilltops in town:

Neon Love

I have a soft spot in my heart for vintage neon signage.  So imagine my delight in discovering the Greyhound bus station on 4th Ave.

I just want to take this pup home and mount him above the fireplace...

Apparently I'm not the only one taken by the glowing hound...

The Bright Side

One of the more exciting discoveries since moving to this city is the antiques district on the south side of town.  This consists of one street and several blocks of charming brick buildings filled with aging relics.  It was disappointing to find it is more common to see these stores closed than open for business on any given day during the week.  It is difficult to see a glimpse of an area in this town with so much potential only half realized.

I found myself falling completely in love with these very large paneled traditional West Virginia quilting patterns situated on different buildings throughout the antiques district.

I feel very drawn to the bold colors and graphic qualities of these pieces.  They actually feel very progressive despite their desolate surroundings.

My favorite of all the panels, by far, was this delightfully kitschy woodland creature-themed panel.  I would like to take it home with me.
