One of the more exciting discoveries since moving to this city is the antiques district on the south side of town. This consists of one street and several blocks of charming brick buildings filled with aging relics. It was disappointing to find it is more common to see these stores closed than open for business on any given day during the week. It is difficult to see a glimpse of an area in this town with so much potential only half realized.
I found myself falling completely in love with these very large paneled traditional West Virginia quilting patterns situated on different buildings throughout the antiques district.
I feel very drawn to the bold colors and graphic qualities of these pieces. They actually feel very progressive despite their desolate surroundings.
My favorite of all the panels, by far, was this delightfully kitschy woodland creature-themed panel. I would like to take it home with me.
